Rachel Corrie era uma rapariga estudante norte-americana de 23 anos que, por solidariedade internacional, se deslocou a Rafah, na Palestina, quando os tanques e as tropas israelitas invadiram, ocuparam terras palestinianas, destruindo e matando pessoas e bens.
Em 16 de Março de 2003 numa tentativa para travar essa onda de destruição e morte, Rachel colocou-se à frente de um bulldozer do exército israelita para evitar o derrube de mais uma casa de uma família palestiniana. Foi então que o potente bulldozer avançou, matando Rachel, o que constituiu um verdadeiro assassínio deliberado.
O veículo usado é da marca Caterpillar que continua a vendê-los a Israel, apesar de todos saberem que são usados para derrubar casas palestinianas e árvores, em especial oliveiras., causando prejuízos incalculáveis.
Os amigos e companheiros de Rachel decidiram assim, em sua memória, escrever uma carta à Caterpillar a fim de lhe solicitar que deixe de vender aquele tipo de máquinas para Israel.
Esta previsto ainda um meeting à frente das instalações da Caterpillar para daqui a um mês ( a 16 de Abril) com a apresentação de provas dos danos causados com este tipo de vaículo por parte do israelitas.

RE: Anniversary of Rachel Corrie's death
Two years ago, a 23-year-old American student named Rachel Corrie was crushed to death as she tried peacefully to prevent the destruction of a Palestinian family home in the Rafah refugee camp, Gaza.
The bulldozer which killed her was made by your company. Unfortunately, despite international protests by human rights groups, your organisation continues to sell the D9 Armored Bulldozer to Israel, whose government has continued to use it to demolish homes and agricultural areas in the occupied territories, in contravention of numerous UN resolutions and international law.
On behalf of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign we are therefore writing to let you know that a small group of us intend to lay a wreath at your offices on 16th March, the anniversary of Rachel Corrie's death. We would like an opportunity to meet with representatives of the management to talk to them about Rachel's life and death and to urge Caterpillar to stop doing business with Israel until it respects the human rights of the Palestinian people.
